Tulsa was a real good crowd for a Monday Night (The Mercury Lounge). Stillwater, Oklahoma was good too (The College Bar)...it was a packed house. Today, on the road, Doug was hesitant to tip the waitress because she threw out his leftovers when he went to the John...you know how he is about food.  Back on the road now to Colorado...getting a late start, and the winds are about 40 mph...blowing our van around as we cruise down the highway...we are in good spirits though, and getting along smoothly.

We only made it to the Oklahoma panhandle last night...high winds and a late start getting on the road. We saw several antelope along the highways as we drove across the plains...we should make it to Denver by 4 PM for our show tonight at Derailed Saloon.

Today, a small thing happened to me that will be a highlight of the tour. Ben's amp needed new tubes. We were directed to a small shop full of amps. There was an elderly gentleman with a white beard named Willie, who we were told was quite a character.  He was very gracious and answered all my questions about amps. He builds amplifiers for famous people like Deric Trucks and Eric Clapton. The Show last night was good. We were well received by a new, but loving crowd.

It's almost noon and we are on the road to the Snowdown at Pagosa Springs.  Last night we had a great turnout at the Front Range BBQ, and we were fed well! One of the waitresses and her family was gracious enough to put us up for the night. I'm drinking lots of water to avoid altitude sickness.  The Colorado folks are awesome!

We are spending another day at the motel in Pagosa Springs with the thermal baths.  We play tomorrow at Creede, Colorado.  Working on uploading videos for the fans' viewing pleasure,

We made it to Creede. We had a really good show there. Dug and Ben went skating before the gig.  I got some good video.  Today, we are heading to Durango.

Saturday, January 21st, 2012, 5:30 PM
We are holed up in a motel room in Durango.  It has snowed about 4" so far.  We came back here after the gig in South Fork to avoid the snow on Wolf Creek Pass.  I am going to walk to Wendy's to get some chili.  We expect a big crowd tonight!

Last night there was a good turnout at Derailed Saloon in Durango. Many from Thursday brought their friends. There was a man who flew in from Illinois to see us and visit his friend. We met two people who were originally from the Joplin area. For me the highlight was my wife's two daughters and their families who live in durango came to see us. We had a nice visit and they loved the show. Shout-out to grandsons Tucker and Rolin. Unfortunately Doug got a touch of stomach flu and is still not feeling too whippie.
Today we are on the road to Salt Lake seeing great scenery in Utah. Getting some photos

Not much happened today. We stayed another day in Provo Utah where motel rates are lower Listed as the most conservative city in the USA. When we got here yesterday at 7:15 all restaurants were closed. We finally found a fast food row where we found sustenance. Today Ben went to the library Doug and I paroused the local pawn shops and a guitar shop.

I think it's fair to say that being on the road involves a lot of doing nothing except what you can dream up to occupy yourself. Thank goodness I can take photos n videos and edit on my phone. We went to the tabernacle at Bens request "to see the architecture". Ben was impressed. I thought Doug would be fully indoctrinated by two nice young ladies who were Mormon reps. Just a little while ago we were reunited with Andy Frasco n his band which now includes Shawn Echels. It always gets a little wild when we play shows together. They played a show earlier today at the festival in Park City. Chris Rock and Paul Giomati were interviewed on the same stage before they played. That brings us to the present. Hope you two are having a nice day.

The show at the Deluxe Bar in Salt Lake City went real well. Doug spent the night with andy n his gang. Ben n I were given beds by a nice guy we met. I spent a good part of today getting my blood pressure medication prescription transferred to SLC at Walgreens. I didn't take time to count my pills before we left thinking I had enough. Then Ben n I went up to park city because Doug had gone up with Andy and it was planned that we would stay tonight in park city with a friend of Andy's. We have been here since 4:30 with not much to do. The event is fairly closed in the sense not just anyone can walk in n watch movies. There are quite a number of clubs here but there is a cover charge everywhere and of the bands n solo acts I have seen it isn't worth wasting my altitude plagued energy on. At 7000 ft it's a little higher than what this flat lander is accustom to. It's 2:00 am now and we are hoping our planned host will come through for us. As Ernie said "sometimes you just have to put your time in"

The Park City shows went well. The Spur is fairly small but I'm guessing 2-300 people packed in. We were streamed live. The man that was engineering it said we had more views than any band at the festival that he had streamed. The crowd at Evingston Wyoming was good, having fun and dancing the whole time Last night we did get food n rooms and this morning the owners had us over for a great breakfast. We are stopped to buy a tire for the van right now.
Stay tuned for more from Ben Miller Band's very own, Scott Leeper!
